Edgar has more than 25 years of experience working within the financial sector, first as a risk management executive and more recently serving the sector from the financial technology side. He is a respected fraud and advanced analytics speaker in major conferences as well as a recognized risk management executive with a proven track record of working with boards and executive teams across different geographies to identify and create value through the application of data technologies.
Edgar has deep analytics and industry background in risk management, fraud risk management, risk models development and validation, regulatory investigations, governance, and digital transformation. He possesses abilities in bringing advanced data and analytics technologies to uncover opportunities for improvement and value creation and executes as a natural translator who thrives facilitating conversations between business, technology, compliance and analytics stakeholders.
Edgar holds a Ph.D. in Operations Research from MIT and is the recipient of the 2007 IEEE Longuet-Higgins Prize for published contribution in the field of Machine Learning. More recently, he (jointly) received the Graphy Award for the use of graph databases and AI in fraud detection in banking, and the Fintech America Innovation Award in Cybersecurity.
